Year 9 at Tamatea High School

Year 9 students at Tamatea High School are offered a broad based programme with emphasis on the essential learning areas of the New Zealand Curriculum.  The following subjects are compulsory for all Year 9 students:
  * English  
  * Mathematics
  * Science
  * Technology
  * Social Studies
  * Health
 
In addition one language course is chosen, this is studied for the whole year.
  * Te Reo Maori
  * French
  * Japanese

Two courses from the Arts are also chosen.  Each of these courses are studied for half a year:
  * Art
  * Drama
  * Maori Performing Arts
  * Music
