Information & Fees

Fees for International Students enrolling at our school in 2008/2009 are as follows:

$9,800.00

Annual Tuition Fee - this fee is per student (including Government Fees)
The fee
covers the full school programme including specialist ESOL teaching

$2,450.00 Tuition fee for a term
- applicable if a student does not study for a full year eg: begins in Terms 2, 3 or 4
$   350.00 Administration Fee (non refundable) (Includes GST)
$   550.00 Student Support Fee (includes GST)
$2,500.00 Contingency Fund - administered by the school.  It covers extra costs such as examination fees, uniform, bicycle and helmet, sport and music costs, stationery, school trips etc. (Any remaining money from the contingency fund at the end of the current year will be refunded)
$   450.00 Medical and travel insurance cover.  This insurance is complusory for the duration of the student's stay in New Zealand
$   180.00 per week Weekly cost for the student's homestay during our school year (Tamatea High School reserves the right to change homestay fees if necessary)

* If within the first two weeks, if for any reason the student withdraws from the school, the balance of the tuition fees remaining for the year, minus 25% of the year's fees will be refunded.  Any student refused entry will have their fees refunded in full less the administration fee.

** There will be no refund if a request to withdraw is made after the student has reached the midpoint of their programme of study in New Zealand, expect for the following circumstances - serious illness of the student or serious illness/death of their close family.

General Information


Students in Years 9 to 12 are required to wear school uniform.  Students in Year 13 are not required to wear school uniform.

The school year is divided into four semesters (terms).  We prefer new students begin their studies at the beginning of a semester.

Health Services

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services whilst in New Zealand.  If you receive medical treatment during your visit you may be liable for the full cost of the treatment.  Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health and can be viewed on their website.

Accident Insurance
The Accident Compensation corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, however, you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs.  Further information can be viewed on the ACC website.

Accomodation
International students live in a homestay.  This is arranged by the school and enables the student to experience and to be involved in supportive New Zealand family life.  This way they can learn and practice English as well as understand the New Zealand culture.  The school employs a Homestay Liaison Officer.
